Does Insurance Cover The P Shot

In most cases, no, insurance does not cover the P-Shot (Priapus Shot). This is because the P-Shot is considered an elective procedure, meaning it is not medically necessary. Insurance companies typically only cover medically necessary procedures.

There are a few exceptions, however. If you have a condition that is causing erectile dysfunction, such as Peyronie’s disease, your insurance company may cover the P-Shot if it is deemed medically necessary to treat your condition. However, this is on a case-by-case basis and you will need to get pre-approval from your insurance company before having the procedure.

Here are some of the reasons why insurance companies typically do not cover the P-Shot:

  • The research on the P-Shot is limited. There is not enough scientific evidence to support the long-term effectiveness of the P-Shot.
  • There are other, less expensive treatments available for erectile dysfunction. Oral medications, such as Viagra and Cialis, are typically the first line of treatment for erectile dysfunction. These medications are usually covered by insurance.
  • The P-Shot is a relatively new procedure. Insurance companies are often hesitant to cover new procedures until there is more evidence to support their safety and effectiveness.

If you are considering getting the P-Shot, it is important to talk to your doctor about your insurance coverage. You can also contact your insurance company directly to ask about their specific policy on the P-Shot.
